Electrical Studies for 25000 Volt Power Distribution System

Challenge:

New well pad sites and pumps at a shale play needed to be safely powered through an underground medium-voltage power distribution system.
Areas of expertise:
Electrical Studies
Solution:

In addition to designing the power distribution system, MES performed electrical studies to determine available fault current, incident energy levels, and required personal protective equipment (PPE).

The electrical studies analyzed risks associated with the network of distribution transformers. For the same client, MES conducted electrical studies at an existing truck rack and crude oil storage terminal. To prepare the client for future growth, MES also calculated loads for future facilities such as compressor stations and truck racks.

Outcome:

Not only did MES’s work supply the client with the needed power distribution system, but it also prepared them to safety work on, maintain and expand the system.
